POW X BLUE-TOMATO

Blue Tomato has partnered with Protect Our Winters Europe as their official merchandise partner. Next time you really need to replace your worn-out clothes you can make a choice that not only funds the fight against climate change but shows the world that fight is important to you. The science is clear: the world is heating up faster than at any time since the last ice age. Extreme weather events are increasing, sea-levels are rising, and the natural world is being damaged beyond its ability to cope. Human activities are to blame. As outdoor enthusiasts, we know this already. Those of us who seek adventure and solace in our wild places see the effect of climate change first-hand. We also have the drive, passion, and determination to power the fight to change things for the better. The same stoke that powers our outdoor adventure can be turned into passionate activism for a better world. Protect Our Winters is there to enable passionate outdoor people to protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change. From athletes and creatives to scientists and responsible business leaders, POW activates the entire outdoor community to support policies and solutions that turn a passion for the outdoors into action for the climate.
“Anyone of us who spends time in the mountains can see the negative effects of climate change on our snowlines, our snowpacks and our glaciers. The reason I founded Protect Our Winters was to unite the industry to take action on climate, and to turn international winter sports participants & athletes into climate advocates. By supporting and promoting POW wherever you are, you’re helping us to fight the most important fight we’ve ever had”. Jeremy Jones
95% of the proceeds from every POW product you buy at Blue Tomato funds Protect Our Winters drive for green policies, sustainable transport infrastructure, divestment from fossil fuels, and most importantly clear leadership on the path to net zero from both governments and corporations. Your purchase helps: promote advocacy, bring you important climate news, provide expertise to businesses and organisations, and engage with members of parliament, and the outdoor industry, to take part in this discussion.
We are proud to partner with POW.   Their mission to protect the places where we have adventures and realize our passions is one that is aligned deeply to the values of our customers and employees.  We are committed to amplifying and supporting this work now and in the future.  The goods in the collection represent a more sustainable standard that will become increasingly necessary to combat climate change.   Our support of the program and POW are part of our goals and work over the long term to create positive impact for our communities. Blue-tomato CEO, Adam Ellis
At POW we live off the believe that taking action should be fun, but also look cool. The ten POW products available on the shop help us to fund our operations, expand our reach and allow our supporters to proudly showcase they are part of the POW movement. It also gives them something back in return for donating to our organization. In Blue Tomato we found a perfect partner as lead POW retailer for Europe with over 30 years of experience and a strong commitment on improving the sustainability and impacts of its operations. Protect Our Winters Europe, Coordinator, Sören Ronge

At POW and Blue Tomato we understand that everything you buy has an impact, but our merchandise line keeps that to a minimum: Here are the certifications and product information for our range.
  • BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) is an audit framework for ensuring social compliance in production and manufacturing, focussing on factory standards and respect for labour rights.
  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
  • We use recycled materials and Repreve – which is the world’s leading recycled fibre, certified to contain 80% post-consumer recycled content (plastic bottles) and 20% pre-consumer recycled polyester (factory material scraps). Repreve is regularly audited with full recycled content traceability.
  • Our logo beanie uses Polylana, a low-impact alternative to 100% acrylic which requires substantially less energy, water, waste and CO2 emissions to produce.
